My obsession with the equine world started young. All my early years drawings and paintings were of ponies and horses. I had a stack of the ‘injured jockey fund’ calendars that my mother had saved to work from. Both Munnings and Stubbs featured in my life from an early age. The recent exhibition at the NAM showing Munnings as a war artist show him as a colourist, impressionist and figuratively speaking a modernist.
25 years on nothing much has changed. I now get my inspiration from the furry friends themselves.
