Since studying in Florence frames have become a constant allure. I collect them endlessly from all over. Maybe they can’t make or break a painting but they can certainly enhance a piece of art no end.
Motif and decoration. For some time now the brilliant George Richards has been making my frames. Just recently I have become more involved in the design of frames in a way to make them more unique to the picture and client. My first attempt can be seen above. It is a take on a Sargent frame used for his charcoal portrait of Lady Poole.
These decorative frames are usually associated with paintings. We also decided on a gesso mount to complete the effect.
I expect to fill this post in the months to come with a collection of ideas to feed into future creations.
